Gone are the days of Hats and Caps
The miners have stood down

Vikings and farmers one and all

Embraced the flag of peace

Occasionally there are rats
Killing in peaceful town
But vikings, farmers still stand tall
Someday all strife may cease

Dalarna's wooden horses
Majestic and mystique
Four hundred year tradition
By children carried on

Train stops at Stockholm station
Young Olav steps into the street
Short walk to Drottninggatan
And he stands right by that store

There's flowers from a grieving nation
They mourn but won't be beat
A wooden horse out of his pocket
He sets between the flowers on the floor

One of Dalarna's wooden horses
Majestic and mystique
Four hundred year tradition
By children carried on

My daddy made this for me, Olav says
He finished it the day before
He went peacekeeping in the Middle East
It's been ten years, he won't be back I know

Please take my prized possession
Brave warriors of peace
And when you meet him in Valhalla
Just say I'm Olav and I miss him so

This wooden Dalahäst
Majestic and mystique
Will fall apart someday
But not in my memory.
