The late Shimon Peres was a Nobel Peace
Prize laureate and the past president of Israel. Many were not aware that
among his many talents he also counted poetry. In the year 2006 he donated
one of his poems to an upstart web-site named songweavers.com.
Songweavers did not get very far, but the poem Ray of Hope was
taken to heart by many of its members. Ernest Samuel Llime, the founder of
Songweavers, wrote music to that poem and following him, over a
hundred members wrote their own versions and translated the poem into a
variety of languages.
Ray of Hope was given its own web-site songweavershope.com, a site
dedicated to promoting peace around the world. One more locus keeping the
legacy of Shimon Peres alive. |
